Join Carlton, a playful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, as he sets off across the Nebraska countryside with one simple question: “Will you play with me?”
Along the way, Carlton meets a curious calf, a busy praying mantis, splashing goslings, a blue heron, a bull snake, a tiny fawn, and even a prickly porcupine—but finding the perfect playmate isn’t quite as easy as he hoped. Will Carlton finally discover someone ready for an adventure?
Filled with beautiful, full-color animal and nature photography, this charming hardbound children’s book was created by Nebraska mother-and-daughter team Vanessa and Deb Hostick. Vanessa writes Carlton’s adventures while Deb brings them to life through her photography. Sweet, funny, and full of prairie personality, it’s a delightful read-aloud for young animal lovers and a special gift with a true Nebraska connection.
